Islamic and Cultural League in Romania is an independent, open and transparent organization that strives to be an exemplary and unifying Islamic organization in Romania by contributing to the betterment of the Muslim community and society at large. Islamic and Cultural League in Romania is committed to freedom, to eradicating prejudice and to creating a society where Muslims can live peacefully and prosper alongside other Romanians from all walks of life and diverse traditions and faith.
Islamic and Cultural League in Romania was founded on the initiative of hundreds of Muslim students from different universitary centres of Romania, immediately after the fall of the communist regime. In that time it's name was The Association of Muslim Students in Romania and was founded on 30 March 1990.
Islamic and Cultural League in Romania's main purpose is to establish an open, pluralistic platform for presenting Islam, supporting Muslim community, developing educational, social, cultural and outreach programs and fostering good relations with other religious communities, and civic and service organizations.
Islamic and Cultural League in Romania promotes a pluralistic approach to the diversity of Islam and has always maintained an open, collaborative working relationship with civil society. Islamic and Cultural League in Romania remains consistent in its rejection of terrorism and violence.
ICLR has released a series of titles among which the most important is the meanings of the Holy Quran translated in Romanian by the joint efforts of renowned members of the Romanian academic field and experts of Islamic studies in Romania; published under the accord of the Institute of Muftiat of Islamic Cult in Romania.
Islamic and Cultural League in Romania is currently led by a diverse executive board formed by prominent members of Muslim community in Romania. The president of the board is Mr. Abu Aal-Ola Nagi Al-Ghithy, a remarkable member of Islamic community, a pioneer of Islamic work within the Romanian society that always encourages the peaceful interfaith dialogue and cooperation for a better world.
Islamic and Cultural League in Romania has it's main headquarter in Bucharest (Str. Fabrica de Gheață, nr. 14, sector 2) and subsidiaries in main universitary cities across the country - Cluj, Craiova, Constanța, Iași, Timișoara
